Research Interests

Dr. Douglas Holsclaw is interested in defining the clinical parameters of ocular pemphigoid and other cicatrizing conjunctivitis.  As Director of the Ocular Pemphigoid Service, he is developing a new descriptive clinical classification of cicatricial conjunctivitis.  This classification will be used to carefully document progressive cicatricial changes in hopes of providing a better means for carefully adjusting therapeutic regimens of antimetabolite drugs.  Dr. Holsclaw has recently defined the risk factors for visual loss in pemphigoid patients.
